Day 11 – Cedar City, UT to Page, AZ  347 miles

We travelled past Zion Nat Park and through the Zion - Mt Carmel tunnel on our way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.  We met up with my brother Jim at Jacob’s Lake for the ride through the GC and on to Page for the night.

Someone got stung.

Day 10 – Fallon, NV to Cedar City, UT.  488 miles

US 50 is designated as the loneliest highway in America.  Maybe not the that, but very few towns, but lots of changing terrain.  You went from long stretches of straight road to up and over mountains with nice curves and elevation change.

We took an out and back in the Great Basin.  Gained about 4,000 feet and had great views of the valley below.

Day 9 – 531 miles of joy.  46° to 86°.  Not bad even riding in the 86 temps.

At breakfast in Susanville, CA which is just west of the Dixie fire.  Kevin did a google maps route from there to Fallon, NV.  Our nights stay.  There were many road closed warning on US 395.  Our route to here.  At the decision point we were able to ask a CA fire worker about us getting through, he said, I doubt it.  So we took what we thought looking quickly at the restaurant a alt route.  We even were following a semi who also though this way was a good idea.  NOT.  At the Nevada border the road turned to gravel.  A car that just got off it heading the opposite way advised us not to do the 20 miles of gravel.  The semi had already turned around.  SO back we went and opted not to test if the original route was good, headed north and then east then back south.  A 300+ mile run to Fallon.  All is good.  Tonight we did a Google map route back to Susanville, NO closure warnings.

Day 8 – 336 miles.  Low of 37° to a high of 74°.

Another nice day to ride.  US 395 in Oregon has some really nice sections north and south of John Day.  After Burns you ride in the high desert around 4400’ elevation.

Later today Kevin Q will catch up with us after getting his U-joint replace in ND.

Our room in Lakeview is near several places to eat, so that is where we are headed soon.

Tomorrow we are off to Fallon, NV

Day 15 – Cameron, MO to HOME   387 Miles Not much to say again except it was good to get home. 5200 miles, 2 very short runs in rain. ...
